Women in Science in New York State Museum

2018-02-11

The New York State Museum hosts a program for celebrating the United Nation's International Day of Women and Girls in Science Sunday.

Female scientists working at the museum met with visitors, while hands-on displays were set up for people to get a better look at some of the work the women do.

The main goal of the program was to give the scientist behind the research the opportunity to share their work and generate interest in science.

"Children see that women can be scientist and whether they're boys or girls, it's important that they be exposed to science and see that science is fun and interesting and something that almost anybody can do," said State Paleontologist Lisa Amaty.

Children of all ages had the opportunity to ask questions in a group sit down session with the scientist.
